Science is more than just papers and conference presentations. It is the questions that inspire the research and the people behind the work. As part of our tenth anniversary, Nature Communications wants to hear from early career researchers who have published with us. If you are a PhD student, postdoc or new PI, tell us in up to 1,500 words what is amazing about the question(s) that drove you and the highs—and lows—of the journey from hypothesis to publication. The best four pieces as chosen by our editors will be published on this anniversary site as a blog post. In addition, you will get an one-on-one ‘ask me anything’ video conference with an editor for you and your lab group.

To apply, please send your piece to
naturecommscompetition@nature.com
by September 15, 2020, accompanied by a brief bio (max 100 words).

We asked our first authors their impression of publishing with us.
